Assignments

The due dates listed for major assignments are approximate only. Should they conflict with end of chapter quizzes or other major events the due dates may be pushed back. Changes in due dates will be announced in class and posted here.

Homework: Homework will be posted here approximately a week before it is due. The purpose of homework assignments is to ensure that you spend some time each week studying for this course; frequent short study periods are more effective than infrequent cramming. The lowest homework grade will be dropped at the end of the semester. Homework assignments will be collected and a few questions from each assignment will be graded. Up to 25% of the homework grade will depend on answering questions in complete sentences (to encourage you to "Look Back" and be sure you've answered the question!) Because this course focuses on the process of mathematical discovery, you will receive generous partial credit for showing that you have attempted a problem.

Blackboard Registration (2/1-2/2): We will be using Blackboard as an electronic gradebook for this course. In order for this to work, each student in the class must be registered with the Blackboard system. In order to enforce this requirement 1% of your grade will depend on your successfully registering. You can register from any location (on campus or off) at the URL https://www.bridgew.edu/services/claimaccount/. If you have trouble registering you can get help from IT Support Services in Maxwell Library basement or room 130 of the Moakley Technology Center.
