People of LEM
We are students, athletes, singers, bridesmaids, friends, sisters and brothers, teachers, pet owners, cooks, sons and daughters, engineers, scientists, writers, artists, theologians, and christians. We share one thing in common, we have found a wonderful community in the Lutheran Episcopal Ministry at MIT. Come meet our members. When asked why do you come to LEM, here were some of the responses!

Emily -- Graduate Student
I come to LEM because it's a space to decompress, to breath, to sing, and to let God remind me that there's more to life than work.

FREE FOOD well
not the primary reason is a definite plus. I feel like I get a lot out of
the sermon and discussion, and as I continue going I feel it pushes me
outside of my comfort zone in what aspects and consequences of my religion
and beliefs I think a
bout. It also forces me to consider things from different points of view,
as other people share their thoughts during discussion. Also as a Lutheran
the service is more like what I am used to at home, and like that comfort
factor, and I enjoy the music. Especially after going to a Catholic High school I am in a way proud of
being a Lutheran, so I like being part of a group that by name is partly
so. |

I come to LEM, quite simply, because I enjoy it. It isn't just any average Bible study. We have truly engaging discussions about the topics that are most interesting to us and find ways to relate the Bible's teachings to our lives as MIT students. Coming to LEM has helped to form a spiritual basis for my college life, and I always come away feeling like I have learned something. Not only that, but the people are all very friendly and fun, and we always find things to laugh about. LEM isn't something I do because I think I should, but because I want to. |
