Worship at LEM

MusiciansThe core expression of our common life is our weekly worship. Every Wednesday at 5:15 our community gathers in the chapel. The services are informal Eucharistic celebrations, rooted in the Episcopal and Lutheran traditions.  People at all stages of their faith journey are welcome. After Eucharist, all are invited to join us at W11 for a fellowship meal, prepared weekly by a rotating crew of LEM students.

Our Journey to Easter

March 28 Palm Wednesday

Join us in celebrating “Palm Wednesday” during our 5:15 worship in the chapel.

Maundy Wednesday

On Wednesday, April 4th, we shared a communal meal at which we commemorated The Last Supper, and remembered how Jesus washed the feet of the disciples as we were invited to participate in this ancient ritual of hospitality and humility.

Solemn Good Friday

On Friday, April 6th, we gathered in a darkened chapel to remember Jesus’ crucifixion with a simple service of reading and prayer and reflection.

Easter Vigil at the SSJE monastery

On Sunday, April 8th, we experienced the Vigil with the brothers at the SSJE monastery near Harvard Square. The service was amazing! After the service, we came "home" and enjoyed a sunrise feast together in W11.

How can I help out in services? At LEM worship, students lead prayers, read the scripture, preach in Easter season, help plan and lead major celebrations like Lessons & Carols, Ash Wednesday, and Holy Week. You can be trained to lead "paperless music," which is a wonderful part of our worship life. Do you play an instrument? Let Ben know & we'll enjoy hearing you or welcome you to accompany singing on a special occasion (bcfjohns*at*mit*dot*edu). You can also volunteer to help make dinner for the group following the service, when we get together for a fellowship meal and discussion time.

There is no faith requirement for participation in LEM services or events, ever.
LEM is a Reconciling in Christ Congregation that welcomes all.

Curious about Other Congregations in the area?
LEM worships on Wednesday nights, so you can also attend a local congregation on Sunday morning. There are many Episcopal and Lutheran congregations in the area. Here are some that LEM students currently attend.
