Our Community

We are a vibrant and energetic community. Led by our Episcopal chaplain Thea and our Lutheran chaplain Kari Jo, we are active in worship, service and community. We meet weekly for services where we feed not only our souls but our bodies as free dinner is served every week. We also meet for discipleship group weekly. We get together to serve those in need in the Boston area regularly. And sometimes we get together just to have fun!

Cleaning up after Wednesday night community supper.

There are lots of ways to become involved in LEM. We have weekly worship on Wednesday nights in the MIT chapel, followed by community suppers. We have a mid-day lunch and Eucharist on Thursdays in W11. We do outreach and community work too. To find out more about what is going on, join our mailing list by e-mailing Paul Quimby at pquimby@mit.edu.

Why LEM?

Sean apple pickingStudents and Faculty are drawn to LEM from many corners of the MIT Community, for many different reasons.  Good food, inviting worship, fun events and spiritual formation are just some of the reasons members say they decided to stick around. Hear some of their testimonies here.

Outreach

Parners in Health - HaitiLEM is deeply committed to justice issues.  Members are particularly motivated in the areas of environmental stewardship, challenging oppressive economic systems, and restoration of the dignity of members of the LGBTQ community.  Additionally, the LEM leadership has structured their budget such that 25% of all collected offerings go towards helping communities that are recovering from natural disasters. Through Partners in Health, the LEM community has made a significant commitment to supporting the work of restoration in Haiti after the 2010 Earthquake.
