Title:
Nonlinear optimization with implicit localization for minimizing the Kohn-Sham Energy
Abstract:
With the constantly increasing power of computers, the realm of
experimental chemistry is increasingly being brought into the field of
computational mathematics. This work integrates non-linear programming
methods and a novel implicit localization procedure to directly minimize
the Kohn-Sham energy. By including a sparsification term, this method
aims to obtain near linear-scaling, allowing the study of large,
realistic molecules.
