A page from RIAA's book ?

Maybe, I am just a cynic when it comes to Microsoft. But this latest attempt seems more like PR and an attempt to get security-by-intimidation.

Tickle Machine

I can't make up my mind if this belongs in Hotshots-2 or Austin Powers- The Spy Who Shagged Me. Probably Hotshots.

Wipro on outsourcing

Vivek Paul, Wipro's vice-chairman, talked at Columbia B-School. Somebody has put up a brief summary of sorts. The spirit of answers was quite similar to Mr. Azim Premji's talk here at MIT. I guess it is now Wipro corporate policy to be defiant, and not defensive, about outsourcing issues. Basically, they say this: "Outsourcing is a thing bound to happen. Deal with it. And can we get past the sob stories to focus on business, please!". Mr. Premji, when goaded a bit more, went on to point out that Indian retail sector is already starting to go through the painful process of replacing mom-and-pop shops by larger stores and this is all part of the big game. Interesting take on things.

Gobhi Musallam

While visiting my folks a few days ago, I was treated to Gobhi Musallam. Damn nice stuff :-) Today, around 7:00 pm a friend called up and asked about dinner plans. We decided to cook rather than go out. The plan of action was to make a dish each and meet in the 24th floor lounge for a movie. So far so good.. But what to make- not peas/beans/aloo/gobhi again! But thats all I had-sSome frozen chopped gobhi in the freezer and lots of peas and beans (and potatoes and onions and canned tomatoes). Decided to try making gobhi musallam. Noble intentions but Google let me down. The first link that came up said this: chop onions, fry with masala and tomato puree and then put in parboiled gobhi. Steam for a little while and you're done. Followed the instructions. I guess I should have been suspicious that real gobhi musallam had the *whole* gobhi and this recipe didn't have anything that would make the whole gobhi preferable to a chopped-up one. Even after lots of TLC to the pan, the output looked suspiciouly like normal gobhi ki sabji. It was *good* gobhi ki sabji but it was not gobhi musallam. Live and learn.

I went back to Google to look for scapegoats. Damn you, Ms. Manjula Kumar! Your recipe didn't mention that the gobhi has to be baked for 30min. Don't you think that part was relevant!! Aargh...

Which movie ? Chicago.
