To the Uninitiated.
Zephyr is a legacy instant messaging system used at MIT and at Carnegie-Mellon. It's popular for many reasons, and has quite a few clients. The simplest clients are zwgc, the windowgram client, and the command line message sender zwrite. Zwgc generates an X window for every incoming message, which you make disappear by clicking on it.
