Dr. Stein is a Research Affiliate at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and is currently a Senior Engineer at The MITRE Corporation. He was previously a Senior Research Engineer at 3M Company, and was a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT. He was a National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT, and received his Ph.D. degree in 2016. He also received his S.M. degree in mechanical engineering from MIT in 2013, and his B.S. degree in materials science and engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 2011. His research interests include modeling & simulation of complex systems, and advanced materials development for a wide range of global challenges such as renewable energy, non-invasive medical diagnostics, next-generation three-dimensional electronics, and manned space exploration.
