2779.155 - Considering the 4 nursery rhymes, the lost Book of Telemon, and the prophecies of the Other-- I don't think any of them are literal truths, more metahporical, or possibly code-- it seems that:
Neither the Telemon nor the Others intended their information to be lost, but neither did they intend it to be public knowledge. So it was encoded, when given at all, in a way that would ensure it would persist, but also disguise what it meant except to those who understood it. Since the psychics seem to also get similar metaphor, there is some underlying symbolism that both were able to use.
