2778.239 -- "Tarn" in this case refers to the aliens we encountered in the Pierogi system, rather than the humans we have taken to referring to as "Terrans." That they call themselves "Deciders" is a deduction of my own.

2778.241 -- The Puritan Book of the Hegemon from Vircus says:

When the Universe saw, and knew, and was, all of humanity, the Decision was to spare itself from the Fires of Darkness. And so did the Universe send, and command, and become the angels of the light.
Note the "Decision" -- could this be related to the "Deciders?" -- Presumably the "angels" are the Ardenti. 2779.250 - No, I don't think the "Decision" was related to the Deciders (unless possibly this part of their language has origins with the Ardenti). I think it was the decision of some of the Ardenti to stay behind and protect the younger races, and presumably these were the "angels of light."

2778.255 - The aliens we had been calling the "Tarn" are, in fact, the Deciders. The two we captured near Sparta confirmed this. They think we are the "Tarn." (Presumably because we are the same species as the Terrans.) This opens up new questions: Jim's scout book shows a redliners ship and labels it a "ship of the Tarn Alliance." Does that mean the Deciders use human ships, or that the Deciders were a part of the Tarn alliance? (They do speak standard, so I lean towards the later theory.) 2779.255 - The Deciders were part of the Tarn Alliance.

2779.189 - Based on Dr Kandemeer's research, it appears that the Tarn (Terran) Alliance consisted of the Terrans, the Deciders, and a third group which had the most influence, probably the Ardenti, the aliens who later engineered the Hegemony and the bloodlines.
