The Jimi Hendrix server is like all the other sites about bands and
stars and stuff. But I chose it because it's a good example, and I like
Jimi Hendrix. The site uses the World Wide Web as a comprehensive guide
to Jimi Hendrix who worked in the medium of music or more specifically electric
guitar. (One neat thing is that Henrix was one of the first people to become
accustomed to and use the new technology/medium of electric guitar in a
comfortable and original way.) Included are different media such as pictures;
lists, descriptions, and comments of all his releases, video appearances, and
books about him; sound clips; guitar tablature and chords; lyrics; newspaper
and other articles; a shopping guide; and links to his other sites. There are
no movie clips though and no FAQ. Anybody interested in Hendrix or his music
would be able to get a pretty good idea of him and his music from the different
information supplied. The site's application of the WWW medium is interesting
because it uses it's possibilities (text, visual, audio, etc) to jump into a
another other media of music, entertainment, and biography.
