Prototype Greens

Carbon Capture • Biofuel Production • Sustainable Energy Startup

In 8th grade, co-founded a startup and pitched at Rice University Lilie Lab focused on innovative algae-based carbon capture and biofuel production systems designed for scalable, sustainable energy solutions. I include this because it was my first introduction to the entrepreneurial world, of which I am much more involved in today.

Project Summary

Prototype Greens is a biofuel and carbon capture startup aimed at reducing global CO₂ emissions through algae-based systems. The project combines environmental engineering, chemistry, and business strategy to create a scalable clean energy solution.

Core Focus Areas
  • Carbon capture via algae
  • Biofuel production pipeline
  • Scalable deployment systems
  • Market integration and sustainability

How It Works

1. Biomass Growth

Algae is cultivated in controlled environments designed to maximize sunlight exposure and growth efficiency.

2. Processing

The biomass is dehydrated, blended, and chemically processed to extract usable fuel components.

3. Conversion

Biomass is converted into biofuel through refinement and filtration processes.

4. Storage & Use

Final fuel is stored and used in generators, vehicles, and other energy systems.

Market Opportunity

The global energy and carbon capture markets are rapidly expanding, creating strong opportunities for sustainable alternatives.

Key Drivers
  • Rising fuel costs (~$5/gal diesel)
  • Climate change urgency
  • Carbon credit markets
  • Limited self-produced biofuel options
