Origin of the Morris

Long before recorded time, the Druids -- nay, their predecessors -- danced in ritual ecstasy. They danced their mystic rite for the changing season, for the arrival of spring, and to ensure a healthy crop. They danced a dance to honour their Corn God, for the heart of the land and all living things.

Now, millennia later, their descendants prance around on May Bank Holiday waving hankies in the air.

The connection is obvious.
