Nahant, Massachusetts

Nahant is a small coastal residential town in Essex County, Massachusetts, located approximately 7.5 miles Northeast of downtown Boston (though the shortest driving route is 14 miles). The town covers 15.48 sq. miles, of which 1.24 sq. miles is land and the rest is ocean. The population density is 2,929 people per sq. mile of land area.

The town of Nahant consists of two pieces of land: Big Nahant (42 degrees 25 minutes 35 seconds North latitude by 70 degrees 55 minutes 10 seconds West longitude; elevation 50 feet above sea level) and Little Nahant (42 degrees 26 minutes 10 seconds North latitude by 70 degrees 56 minutes 0 seconds West longitude; elevation 70 feet above sea level). Big Nahant and Little Nahant are connected to each other and to the city of Lynn by causeways.

Nahant's population is 3,632, according to the 2000 census.
