Beyond the Research

Music, Art & Science Communication

I love exploring creative ways to share our scientific discoveries and ideas. Here are a few projects I am excited about.

Beyond the Telescope

In March 2026, I presented the planetarium program Beyond the Telescope: Observing the Universe's Cosmic Dawn with JWST at the Museum of Science in Boston. The show used real James Webb Space Telescope data to take audiences to the edge of the observable universe and explored how quasars and early galaxies evolved, combining cutting-edge astronomy with immersive visualization to make the Cosmic Dawn of our universe more accessible to a public audience.

Cambridge Science Festival

As part of the Cambridge Science Festival in 2024 I gave a talk at the MIT Museum on black holes, showcasing new research results with the James Webb Space Telescope. The event took place on the museum's large-format screen, enabling us to show the telescope in its real size.

Cosmic Dawn IPA

In summer 2023 we held the First Light conference on JWST's early-universe discoveries at MIT. As part of the conference we organized a public outreach event at the MIT Museum, for which I designed the "Cosmic Dawn" New England IPA with the Lamplighter Brewery in Cambridge. The label featured a JWST image of our favorite quasar in the distant universe.

House of Astronomy

During my PhD I worked as an Outreach Fellow at the House of Astronomy in Heidelberg, a beautiful building shaped like a spiral galaxy with a planetarium in the galactic center. As an Outreach Fellow I gave planetarium shows and explained the astronomical research conducted in Heidelberg to visitor groups of all ages and backgrounds.
