This is an Outlook book review about the memoirs of James Lyngdoh (India's ex-Chief-Election-Commissioner). But it isn't really a book review. It's a psychological profile of the guy, talking about his genuine dislike for pols and his genuine affection for jholaa-waalas and NDTV reporters. And his absolute conviction that he was doing good for the "mute millions". Which, to some extent, he was.
Apparently, real life jasoos-es are somewhat boring. There seems to be more hanky-panky in an anti-nuke conference than in one laden with spies from the subcontinent.
