Noah D. Stein

My nonacademic interests include board and card games, listening to and making music, watching movies and cancelled TV shows on DVD, hiking, and photography. I also enjoy cooking, baking, and eating -- especially sweets of any kind -- and I am an active member of the MIT Laboratory for Chocolate Science. To try to balance this out, I run when the weather is nice and play DDR when it isn't. I live in Somerville, MA with my girlfriend Laura who has a “real job” at MIT Lincoln Laboratory and whom I've been dating for about seven years. Some of my favorites (and many of hers) are listed below.

Favorite board/card games: Puerto Rico, Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Boggle, Apples to Apples.

Favorite music: rane, Guster, Dave Matthews Band, Ben Folds, Pink Martini, Clifford Brown, Don Ellis.

Favorite authors: Tom Robbins, Thomas Pynchon, Terry Pratchett, Richard Feynman.

Favorite TV shows: Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Good Eats, Arrested Development, The Daily Show.

Favorite movies: Saved!, Kevin Smith's New Jersey trilogy, The Princess Bride, The Shawshank Redemption, most of Stanley Kubrick's films.
