MAP Network Engineering
This page describes our
consulting services in general. More detail may be found on the
pages linked to from here, and you can always
contact us
directly with any questions.
Experience
I have been doing computer and data communications since 1970 and I've
been connected with The Net since 1975 (when it was the
ARPAnet, and through the transition to The Internet). I've been doing
full-time engineering on parts of The Internet since 1987, including a
range from small LANs to world wide WANs. For more details, see my
resume.
Services
The services fall into two general categories, Network Engineering
services and Web based agents.
Network Engineering
Complete Measurement, Analysis and Planning for internet networks of
all kinds.
Corporate intranets,
ISP backbones, and
content provider architectures
can all benefit from better measurement and analysis of
existing network conditions for improved future planning.
Some specific areas include
Routing architecture,
Growth Planning,
DNS setup,
and
Staff training.
There are additional pages with details oriented specifically for
ISP or
Corporate networks.
Web Based Agents
I also have a map based locator service
available for WWW sites that list physical retail outlets. Such a
service can be a great aid to their customers trying to locate a
storefront to go to.

Free information resources maintained by MAP Network Engineering
We maintain a list of Ethernet codes, as seen in
the field. This can be a useful resource in tracking down problems on
an Ethernet (or related technology, Token Ring, FDDI, etc.) LAN.
My personal pages
While not related to MAP Network Engineering, my
personal pages may be
of some interest to the occasional visitor to the Consulting Services
page.
This page was served from an old server at MIT. You
should update any references (or inform the maintainer of the
referring page) to the new URL:
http://map-ne.com/. Further pages
(and, indeed, reloads on some browsers) should be automatically transferred
there.
