Offered Next In Fall H1 2011-12
(Syllabus pdf)  (SMIE Slide) (Fall 09-10 MIT Sloan Stellar Website) (Tech Strategy Poster)
15.912 provides a series of strategic frameworks for managing high-technology businesses with a particular focus on the development and application of conceptual models which clarify the interactions between competition, patterns of technological and market change, and the structure and development of organizational capabilities in the context of technological innovation and entrepreneurship. The course should be of particular interest to those interested in managing high technology firms or new ventures where innovation is likely to play a major role, and to those interested in strategy consulting or venture capital. Potential cases include eInk, Apple, Novartis, Intel, Abgenix, Ember, Linux, Google, Nokia, Medtronic, Toyota Prius, Kodak, Facebook, LinkedIn, Zynga, Rovio (Angry Birds).

This course is offered only once per year -- Fall H1. This year we have two sections: 15.912A H1 1-2:30 in E62-233 and 15.912B H1 2:30-4 in E62-233. This course is required of E&I track students and open to other MIT students. Please email me with any questions. Given the mix of technology and management issues in the course, I welcome students from other parts of campus who are interested in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Sample Course Evaluation (Spr 08): Professor Davis's Recommendation Rating=4.3/5
MIT Sloan Evaluation (Fall 07): Average Professor Recommendation Rating=4.26/5
