About Me

I am the KDD Career Development Professor in Communications and Technology and an Associate Professor of Operations Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management. I am affiliated with the Operations Research Center and MIT IBM Watson AI Lab. Before joining MIT, I spent a year as a postdoctoral fellow at Google Research in New York where I worked with the Market Algorithm team to develop, design, and test new mechanisms and algorithms for online marketplaces. My current research revolves around developing new modeling frameworks, data-driven design, algorithms, and optimization schemes to improve and reshape the operation of online marketplaces. Leveraging the theory and data, I address various operational challenges in practice, faced by e-commerce and online advertising markets.

I gratefully acknowledge support from the Young Investigator Program at ONR, a Google Faculty Award, MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, the Liberty Mutual Insurance, MIT Indonesia Seed Funds, and MIT Research Support Committee (RSC) award. I am currently serving as an associate editor for the Production and Operations Management (POM), Operations Research Letters (ORL), and Naval Research Logistics (NRL) journals.

To Prospective Students: I am always excited to hear from prospective students who are interested in my research and eager to explore new ideas in the field. If you are passionate about machine learning and online decision making for digital marketplaces, I encourage you to apply to the Operations Research Center (ORC) here and list my name in your application. After you get admitted to MIT, please reach out to me directly.
