We have so many great things planned for you this year! The Big/Lil Sib program, off-campus outreach activities, yummy study breaks, women's life balance advocacy events, regional and national conferences, more events in collaboration with National SWE and other MIT student groups, and much more!
Why you got involved in SWE:
Because my sister, aunt, and cousin are in it and they inspired me to join. The people I've met through MIT SWE are so much fun to get to know and they're just amazing all around!

Why you got involved in SWE:
I joined SWE because I knew I wanted to get involved after receiving a scholarship from my own home chapter. The members were encouraging andprovidedreally good advice. Working with outreach this year has been so muchfun; I getto work not only with my peers, but also with amazing kids.

The Membership & Information team maintains our relationship with other chapters and National SWE, works to increase MITSWE's membership, and works to ensure the general body is aware of MITSWE's accomplishments accomplishments and events. SWE National Convention is November 4-6, 2008 in Baltimore!
Why you got involved in SWE:
Because MITSWE makes a visible impact on our school and our community, and I wanted to be a part of that.

Big/lil sister program! We’re planning fun events like spa nite and ice cream sundaes, Build-a-Bear, and outings to Harvard Square!
Why you got involved in SWE:
I wanted an opportunity to work with a group of talented and intelligent women to promote stronger community between students and professional engineers. SWE holds a broad spectrum of events including career workshops, study breaks, dinners with professors, women’s life balance discussions, and outreach activities. I am so happy that I can contribute to continuing our tradition of great events!

Outreach has too many great events to choose just one. There is Beaverdash and the WISE Conference for high school students and KEYS and our new off-campus events for elementary school students.
Why you got involved in SWE:
I got involved with SWE because I felt that too many people, especially women, did not understand that engineering is creative and exciting or that engineering has produced most of the products we use in every day life. With SWE, I hope to promote engineering to the whole community getting children of every age excited about what they can do as engineers.

MIT Career Fair in Fall 2008! SWE is a huge part of making it awesome, along with Senior Class and the GSC.
Why you got involved in SWE:
MIT SWE organizes so many unique and important events for female engineers on campus, from networking dinners with professors and local professionals, to seminars on making the best of grad school and work life, to outreach activities passing on that thirst for math and science to the younger generation. I'm thrilled to contribute to all that!

Why you got involved in SWE:
I got involved in SWE because of the variety of events that it offers on the MIT campus and on the regional and national level, the opportunities for leadership and networking, and the chance to work with an incredible group of women.

Look forward to our work/life balance discussions and movie screenings, replete with MIT speakers and healthy food. (The first is the morning of March 8th!)
Why you got involved in SWE:
I got involved in SWE because the SWE special awards judges at my regional science fair (in high school) were so wonderful.

All this semester, look out for exciting monthly group discussions, film nights and panels over brunch or dinner on a variety of issues, from work-life balance, self-esteem, life-transitions, study and memory, health/relationships centered on finding and celebrating our identities as women as well as engineers.
Why you got involved in SWE:
I believe it is important to offer resources and support for women engineers at MIT. Since the first time I came to SWE board as Career Fair director, I have become more and more aware of various career, gender and academic-related issues facing women students in engineering. As part of Advocacy, I hope to explore these issues, meet new people and be a part of the active, prominent and dynamic community presence that is MIT SWE. Many of the activities sponsored by MIT SWE are wonderful opportunities for women engineers to share knowledge with each other, and develop their identities beyond the merely intellectual. Of course, being part of SWE community is a great deal of fun!
