Ven. Tenzin Priyadarshi serves as the Director of MIT Prajnopaya, Buddhist Chaplain and Visiting Scholar at MIT. His office is located at W11-004 (MIT) Religious Life Center. Please send an e-mail to tenzin at mit dot edu or call 617-324-6030 to make an appointment.

Ven. Priyadarshi was born in Vaishali, India. He entered monastery at the age of ten in Rajgir near ancient Nalanda University. Ven. Tenzin trained in India and Nepal in Indo-Tibetan and Japanese Buddhism, and was ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He received training in Sanskrit texts in Sarnath, Calcutta, and Delhi.

Ven. Priyadarshi has been interested in dialogues within and outside of the Buddhist tradition. He has engaged in dialogue with HH the Dalai Lama, HH Shakya Trizin, HH Gyalwa Karmapa and other eminent scholars and practitioners. He was also a member of the Buddhist delegation to meet with Pope John Paul II during the Christian persecution in India. He has presented papers and given talks on various aspects of philosophy and religion in India, Cuba, Japan, Taiwan, Europe, and the United States.

He completed his graduate work in Comparative Religion at Harvard University.

Ven. Priyadarshi is also an Adjunct Faculty at the Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies, the North American Seat of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Ithaca, New York. For more information on Ven. Tenzin and his activities visit www.iMonk.org
