You will be asked to list animal names and answer some questions about them. The HIT should take approximately 7-10 minutes. Please pay attention, thanks!

Instructions

In this study, we are interested in how prevalent certain properties are for different kinds of animals. We will give you examples of the kinds of animals we have in mind and ask you to list a few of your own.

Then, you will estimate the percentage of the individual members of the animal species that have the property.

On each trial, you will rate 8 properties. The properties will be revealed to you one at a time. Essentially, you will be filling out a big table. You are allowed to go back and revise your answers, if you think there is a more realistic estimate you could give. You will do this 2 times (2 big tables). Press Continue to begin.

Instructions: 2 of 3

Please keep in mind, we are interested in the percentage of individuals that have the properties; not the percentage of subtypes. To illustrate the difference between "subtypes" and "individuals", let's pretend you're asked abouth humans (you won't be asked about humans in this experiment):
"What percentage of humans do you think crawl?"

One answer would be 100% since all cultures have babies that crawl. This would be considering the "subtypes" of humans and not the individuals. This is not the type of answer we are looking for.

Instead, we'd want to you to say something like 10%, since only babies crawl.

Instructions: 2 of 2

There will be 8 properties in total. The properties will be revealed to you one at a time. You are allowed to go back and revise your answers, if you think there is a more realistic estimate you could give. Press Continue to begin.
