In the board layout, each pawn starts closest to a different escape pod. Use this to associate a character and the answer to that character's puzzle with each pod.
Each pod has four numbers on it, none of them larger than the number of letters in its corresponding answer. Use each as an index into the answer of the corresponding puzzle and write the letters in the same arrangement as the numbers in the escape pods.
Read the letters on each side of the board in three rows with the board oriented to put that side on top. It spells the answer, SETEC ASTRONOMY WINS HUNT BY ACCIDENT.
