One receives a list of 8-10 items which look something like:

   Augusta, ME		5 4 2 6 5 11 2 5

The names and the year mentioned in the blurb are hints.  Get the Rand
McNally 95 Road Atlas, and go to the map for Maine.  Follow the mile
markers from Augusta, at each point having only one or two choices
that match the numbers above, and end at Liberty, where you cannot
find any 2 mile segment to follow.  Take the fifth letter, R.

Do this for the other locations.  Starting and Ending points are:

There are a few small ambiguities in the path, where multiple options
are available, however, those sort themselves out in the next step.
