Does God Exist?

Alas, I don't believe that there will ever be answer to this question, at least among the living. Certainly, no scientific inquiry can disprove that god exists, because by definition a creator must exist apart from the creation, so it is always possible to postulate that god is beyond our physical investigations. Science can only provide means of predicting and describing physical events, and chains of causes that lead to observations of the world as it now seems.

Yet if laws and chains of physical causes can explain everything we observe, is there any need to believe in a god that has created the universe?

Questions about god are then relegated to the realm of philosophy and metaphysics. Some have suggested that god must exist, or else morality has no meaning.

Although the fact that religion exists must mean that it is something fundamental to human nature, the fact that such a myriad of religions exist throught the world raises the question, is there only one true religion, and if so, why doesn't everyone believe it? What criteria could one possibly use to discern which religion is true? Or are all of them equally valid in trying to forge a connection with the spiritual world, although each one may be faulty in its details?

I don't know.
