Mobile Workbenches (Steel & Wood)

Fabrication • Electrical Integration • Shop Tooling

Two mobile benches built from salvage: a heavy-duty steel welding bench with channel ribs and a woodworking bench with drawers, lighting, and power distribution.

Overview

We needed better work surfaces in the shop. The solution was two mobile benches that could handle welding, grinding, drafting, assembly, and woodworking.

Bench Types
  • Steel bench: channel ribs for clamping + welding ground access
  • Wood bench: drawers, shelving, lighting, and 120V outlet

Build Process

Step 1 — Salvage & Layout

We selected scrap channel and wood. Bench sizes were chosen based on shop layout and tool compatibility.

Step 2 — Welding the Steel Frame

Channel ribs were welded with spacing optimized for clamping. Casters were mounted to allow movement.

Step 3 — Wood Bench Assembly

Drawers and shelves were added, followed by lighting and a power outlet panel.
