In situ velocity measurement of the propulsive jets of pelagic tunicates (salps)

Summary

We are working on developing ocean instrumentation for flow measurement and visualization in-situ. Including the development of a compact PIV system with 3D imaging capabilities. Recent data from field work in Panama (2009) with WHOI biologist Kelly Rakow-Sutherland investigates the swimming performance of pelagic tunicates (Salps). For more details on the hydrodynamics check out the Salps page [CLICK HERE].
