Update 2009: I've had the same email address for twenty-one years. I
imagine that my address appears on virtually every spammer's email list.
Ninety-nine percent of my email is spam, and I'm quite sick of it.
Therefore, I have recently implemented a rather hard-line email filter. I
apologize if your email gets lost, but I hope that you understand that
that I'm tired of deleting a hundred messages for every one I read.
Here's some advice for getting past my spam filter
(and just some good email etiquette, in my opinion):
- Turn off HTML mail. Send plain text.
- Turn off MIME mail. Don't send attachments (unless I request them).
- Use a simple, meaningful subject line.
- Microsoft Office files are cheerfully deleted (unless I request them).
