Me on a uni

A little bit about me....

When I started my job in August 1998, I worked for Kenan Systems Corp. in Cambridge, MA. We were bought by Lucent Technologies in February 1999, so I have a new set of business cards. To be more precise, I have three sets of business cards: one set is obsolete, one set is aesthetically unpleasing, and the third set has my name listed incorrectly. I've learned to make origami modules from the business cards, so at least they're not a total waste. I am a software engineer, and a technical lead for the Special Development Group. I graduated in June 1998 from M.I.T. with an S.M. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. One of my research projects, the Physical Geology Tutor, is available to the M.I.T. community. If you're outside the mit.edu domain, you can look at the demo tutor. I'm also an alum of Harvey Mudd College; I have a B.S. in Geology (Individual Program of Studies (IPS), technically, but it doesn't say either on my diploma). I dance, I sew, I quilt, I hack, I play flute and recorder, I armor, I read, and contrary to what Jim Frinier has said, I do not suck at pinball! As seems customary with web pages, this one is also perpetually under construction.

New news!

I've joined a rapper team. No, this does not mean that we sit around doing our best impersonations of the Beastie Boys. Rapper is a traditional British sword dance that includes stepping. I am a member of Charles River Rapper, a women's team in Boston, MA. I don't think we have a webpage yet.

Old news!

A bunch of very silly people came up with a very silly song. If you're a Perl hacker, you may enjoy it. :^)

A little bit more about me....

I'm currently doing a quasi-major revamping of this page. More categories are in the works, but for now, here's the stuff that's available.

Jhango?
I wear a lot of different hats.
Schools
20 years, 10 schools, 2 coasts, 3 tassels, 2 degrees, 1 Real Job, and a partridge in a pear tree.
Work
That 9-whenever thing that I'm doing as of the 17 August 1998.
Random, in a Mudd sort of way
Things by and about Mudders. (This category will likely be renamed and its contents scattered to the winds.)
Cosmic Power Trips, etc.
Pretentious? Us? Surely you jest! For now, read about the Death Valley Run we undertook in December of 1997. We also just got back from the 1998 CPT, the Pea Soup Andersen's Rally. We averaged somewhere over 40 m.p.h. for the entire trip. That includes sleeping and eating Split Pea Soup. A partial travelogue is up, with pictures, even! (3/17/99 I really should finish typing this in soon....)
Miscellaneous stuff
Unclassifieds, and things that just don't fit anywhere else.
