Guild Camp VII
Initial meeting 6/14, games run 6/27 through 6/29
Run by Beth Baniszewski, Ken Clary, Hubert Hwang, Dennis V. Perepelitsa
Have you ever wanted to write a game? Guild Camp is an intensive two-week long crash course in designing, writing, producing, casting and running a one-night game in teams of three or four! Two games you might have played this year, Masquerade and Condition Echo Blueshift, were both originally Guild Camp games from last summer. First-time writers are encouraged to attend, experienced writers are welcome.
Muppet Purgatory
Weekend of July 19 (One night.)
GMs: Beth Baniszewski, Diane Christoforo, and William Lowenthal
The entire cast and crew of the Muppet Show were killed in a tragically hilarious accident. Now they are stuck in Purgatory awaiting Judgement. But the disposition of their souls does not rest upon their earthly deeds. No. They must perform for their salvation. God and Satan are watching.
Muppet Purgatory is a game focused around performing improv skits. The majority of players will perform in at least one skit. This is a high-role playing, low plot game. It is not a traditional Guild find-and-kill-your-enemies game. You should app if you think being a muppet for a few hours sounds like fun.
Truth or Consequences
Weekend of 8/2 (one night)
GMs: Liz Hanson and Dennis V. Perepelitsa
During a rainstorm, several strangers check into a motel on the outskirts of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
Failapalooza
Weekend of 8/9 (one night)
GMs: Laura Boylan, ...
You know those moments? Those moments when you come up with an idea, and for a fleeting moment it seems fantastic. And then your sanity returns and you realize, "Wait... no, that's a terrible idea. Oh my god, that is so offensive. We could never actually do that. What the hell was I thinking?" The answer is simple, friends, you were thinking of Fail-A-Palooza. Come forth and let those ideas come to fruition... for about an hour each. Some of them might actually be bad ideas, but it'll probably be fun.
Fail-A-Palooza is a festival of bad ideas, offensive ideas, ridiculous ideas, experimental ideas and short ideas. "Porn Star: The LARP" and "10 Bad LARPS in 100 bad minutes" are already scheduled. If you have a game (two hours or less) that you want to run, or just an idea for such a game, email fail-gms@mit.edu. All aboard the fail boat!
Upcoming Games:
These are games that are planning on running in the near
future, to the best of our knowledge, but aren't scheduled yet. If
you think your game should be here but isn't (or vice versa), send
mail to the High Council.
Evil Overlord
GM: William Lowenthal
Doctor Doom is dead! The world, once a bastion of order under the ruthless and evil Doctor Doom, is now in utter chaos. With his demise, the once subdued Evil Overlords are again reverting to open warfare for control over the world. Only this time, the fearsome relics of Doctor Doom's technological empire remain to deliver devastation.
Evil Overlord is a SIK game of mad science and world domination.
