Research
My friends call me "Dimitri" and I am a graduate student at MIT. This is my fourth winter in the tropical suburbs of Boston.
Before coming here, I spent twenty four sunny years in the city of Athens, Greece. I had been lucky enough to enjoy the environment of a beautiful family (I have a younger brother called Haralabos), many good friends and mentors.
When it comes to engineering, my area of study is mechanical engineering. The research area of my diploma thesis and my MS research was robotics (underwater and space). The research area of my PhD is "something completely different": optics for biomedical applications. For more details, see the "research" page of this web site.
Apart from engineering, I like simple things that make life beautiful. A road trip far away from home, chatting in a cafe (or doing homework if things are getting busy), chocolate, political conversations, city walking during long February nights, cooking, special kinds of people. Keep it simple stupid!
