Research overview:

Designing a distributed decision making system (internet, wireless networks, power grid, auction mechanisms etc.) is much more challenging than designing a centralized decision making system. I am interested in understanding the nature of distributed systems and designing practical decision making algorithms using tools from control theory, game theory, optimization theory, and information theory.


  • System and Control Theory: Robust control, Optimal control, Decentralized control, Large-scale systems, Positive systems

  • Optimization Theory: Convex and Non-convex optimization, Semidefinite programming, Compressed sensing, Independent component analysis

  • Information Theory: Real-time communication, (Sequential) rate-distortion theory

  • Game Theory: Mechanism design, Electric power systems
