Magic in Palquenta

Magic is everywhere in Palquenta, in the Earth, in the water, in the air. Magical creatures live in the forests. Gods grant magic to their followers. Nearly everyone is capable of at least some magic.

There are three main types of magic that people can learn, each explained below: Spirit Magic, Divine Magic, and Sorcery.

Spirit Magic

Spirit Magic is probably the simplest approach to magic in Palquenta. It's certainly the kind most commonly encountered. Nearly any member of any cult can learn Spirit Magic. Spirit Magic is cast quickly, and its affect are relatively short-lived.

Casting Spirit Magic requires a focus upon which to concetrate, spoken words, and some type of formal body movement (typically a hand gesture).

Here are descriptions of some common Spirit Magic spells.

Divine Magic

Divine Magic (sometimes called Rune Magic) is used by people qualified to act in the name of, and with powers that derive from, one of the gods.

Divine Magic is probably the quickest and most reliable type of magic in Palquenta. However, such spells can only be renewed in special places (if at all), and cost the sacrifice of one or more point of POW (a measure of one's soul) to obtain.

Sorcery

Sorcery is probably the most flexible as well as most difficult to learn approach to magic in Palquenta.

Sorcery is rare in Perelandra, and not a lot is known about it.

Here are descriptions of some of the known sorcery spells.

Runes

Runes are a key part of magic in Palquenta. Some claim that they are the very building blocks of magic. There is more to making a Rune than simply drawing its shape. Different gods have certain Runes associated with them.
