Yelmalio is the god of the Sun Dome -- the shining light of the sky when both the sun and night are absent. Yelmalio is popular among Elves. He is sometimes referred to as the Horse God.
It is said that during the Great Darkness, Yelmalio and Orlanth, old foes, grudgingly settled their feud and aided each other.
The cult survives by the training and hiring of pike-armed soldiers as mercenaries -- the famous Sun Dome Templars.
Yelmalio is portrayed as a warrior, carrying a long spear and armored in gold.
Those born to a Yelmalio initiate can automatically join by sacrificing a point of POW. Those who have served with the temple mercenaries for over two years must choose to leave or be initiated.
Initiates receive a gift from their god, increasing their abilities. Along with that, they must accept a limiting geas.
Yelmalio's Rune Lords are known as Light Sons. They lead the temple warriors. Among other requirements, the candidate must have 90% skill in bow and spear attack. Upon acheiving the status of Light Son, the candidate receives another gift and its concurrent geas. Thereafter, the Light Son may receive another gift and geas per year.
Rune Priests of Yelmalio, Light Priests, must know at least 10 points of Divine magic. Upon acceptance as a Light Priest, another gift and geas is bestowed. Thereafter, the Light Priest may receive another gift and geas per year.
