Gbaji brought about the end of the period of history known as the Dawn Age and plunged the world into the Gbaji Wars.
The Second Council held sway over much of the Dawn Age, ruling the world from a place called Dorastor. Representatives of all sentient races held seats on the Council. After a time the Council developed a new philosophy around the theoretical ability to construct the perfect being, who would be able to harmonize all intelligent life into a highly spiritual relationship with the universe. For years they discussed how it might be done, and there were many theories about what it might really mean, but it seemed to be a dream of the future as unreachable as the past.
Then, an artifact called a "pseudocosmic egg" was discovered and delivered to Dorastor. The exact nature of this thing is unknown, but much sought after. Whatever findings were made are still a secret, though it is now known what it was used for.
This egg formed a nucleus for the creation of a new god born within the bounds of Time and fashioned by the dreams of perfection held by imperfect beings. This new god had many names; Gbaji, Nysalor, and Rashoran are the best known.
The process of building a god is long and complex. During the initial stages, the Trolls were the first to protest and break from the Council. They claimed the project would come to an ill end and refused to have any part in it. Soon afterwards the Dragonewts also quit the Council.
The Trolls began an organized resistance to the Second Council, beginning an ancient summoning of an entity called the Black Eater. This unknown force had been summoned during the Greater Darkness, but the ritual was never finished. The Trolls began it anew, and their magic was so powerful that the sun was actually forced to stop in the sky.
Gbaji, called the Perfect One by the Council, was born in Dorastor. The forces of the Black Eater were mustered and marched against Dorastor. Gbaji, still an infant of a god, was carried to meet the enemy. Gbaji, the White Light, scorched away the immortal ally of the Trolls, and the Black Eater shrivelled from history. The Trolls and their allies were crushed in the field.
So enraged at this resistance was Gbaji that he sent a great curse against the Trolls and the Dragonewts. It is said that a True Dragon awoke for a moment at the curse, and devoured the energies so his race was not troubled. The Trolls were not so lucky. When Kyger Litor wrestled with the curse, it overcame her and broke part of her spirit forever. This is known among Trolls as the Trollkin Curse.
This horrific battle was the first of many that Gbaji waged over the next 200 years. At the peak of Gbaji's evil empire vampires walked openly underneath the bright sun, disease masters of Malia were as highly esteemed as healers, and the populace of entire cities sprouted Chaos features.
Finally, a man was born who later became known as Arkat the Liberator. He fought a 78-year battle against Gbaji with his faithful companions, leading armies against Gbaji's forces of Chaos. The Gbaji Wars ended when Arkat and a handful of companions met Gbaji and his bodyguards in single combats. Arkat slew Gbaji and dismembered him. The remains were scattered into deep guarded places. Dorastor was scoured, cursed, and left rotting as a memorial to the Gbaji Wars and the Hero Arkat. To this day, stories have it that Dorastor is infested with vile monsters.
No images of the living Gbaji survive. Worship of Gbaji is outlawed in Perelandra and is punishable by death.
