Who am IAimlessly trying to fill canvasses with oily pigments.I wish I knew!! Its kinda difficult to explain but I am really not a single me. I may tell you that I am from Calcutta, or that I am out and out a Xaverian or that I love to paint blah ..blah..blah...but I'd still be far from addressing the point....anyways....lets begin at the very beginning (and end fast!).
I was born in this HUGE metropolis called Calcutta (I think I said that once before)...it was a nice politically incorrect city and I just LOVED it that way....but what really beats me is why it should be called the city of joy..I mean I was oftentimes happy in there...but can't say I wouldn't be happy if I were in...say... Cairo. Well I guess names get stuck to places just as they get stuck to people...
So...where was I?..ya...I was a difficult kid ...never liked going to school and all those stuff that make moms and dads go nuts...but finally.....God knows how...they managed to send me down to St Xavier's Calcutta. Even I liked it!!!! It was just an awesome school. Father Sassel , Father Bouche, Father DeCampo....I'll never forget those white robed priests from across the oceans with their disciplinary frown and box full of chocolates. I got the motto of my life...Nihil Ultra..something to live for.
Then it was Jadavpur University for a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Some more good memories....but not as great as before..some more new friends ...four years and then it was time to say goodbye to Calcutta. I was off to Bangalore for my Masters. Two of the nicest and most glorious years of my life (so far). Its just an amazing city and so is the Indian Institute of Science, my alma mater. Then, guess what, I had this itch to see the end of the academic pyramid...and there I was..ferociously apping to schools in the US....Then one fine August evening I found myself in another city on the other side of the planet.
I have fallen in love with Boston ever since....its almost as cosy as Calcutta....So even after they added three more alphabets to my name I have found it hard to bid adieu....
