The Whitaker Building is not, of course, known to MIT students by that name. We have bestowed the more memorable appellation of "Building 56" upon it, in recognition of its convenient location between buildings 16 and 66.
In the Whitaker building is the Center for Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS), a multi-disciplinary research center operating within the Whitaker College of Health Sciences and Technology at MIT.
