Hello! I'm a Masters candidate at the MIT Media Lab. I'm a part of the Lifelong Kindergarten Research Group, where I work on the Scratch programming language under Professor Mitchel Resnick. In the past, I have been involved with a number of Free/Open Source Software projects in various capabilities (translator, developer, community manager, etc).

Learning with data

I'm building a toolkit on top of Scratch that provides opportunities for children to programmatically explore and experiment with data. With this toolkit, children will be able to create programs to collect data through surveys, manipulate data from online sources, and analyze the data.

Bookreading system for OLPC

Before joining the Media Lab, I used to work for the One Laptop Per Child Project. I was the architect of OLPC's bookreading system, where I was in charge of designing and building the eBook reading infrastructure for the XO machines.

Bengali in Free Software

I co-founded AnkurBangla, an umbrella organization for a number of projects bringing Bengali/Bangla support to Free software. I worked on a wide range of things, from helping develop rendering engine to font development, from translating software to building GNU/Linux live-cds.
