Most of the 1999 Hunt can now be found here. Anything that is missing may be
forthcoming... but don't necessarily hold your breath for it.
The 1999 Mystery Hunt began at noon on Friday, January 15 in Lobby 7, where we learned that the V.I.L.E. and vile Mistress of Mystery Carmen Sandiego had stolen the coin away from our heroes at Acme Detective Agency. Contact information for Acme can be found here. E-mail messages which have been sent to hunters from Acme may be found here. We apologise deeply for the strange situation which caused some teams to not receive these e-mails.
The MIT Mystery Hunt is a weekend-long puzzle competition. The puzzles come in all shapes and sizes, from cryptograms to trivia questions to scavenger hunts. Winning teams in the past have tended to be moderately large, often with twenty or more puzzle-solvers. We welcome teams of all sizes, though, and bigger teams often welcome new members into their ranks at any point in the competition. We strongly recommend that you have some means of access to the internet during the hunt. Plenty of food and at least a little bit of sleep are also recommended. You can read more about the hunt in general in our introduction.
