Solution to Heard but Not Seen

by Aaron Dinkin

The puzzle consists of 39 written words, each of which is a link to an audio file containing some other word. The written words can be arranged so as to form approximate soundalikes for the names of twelve NPR on-air reporters:

Each of the audio files is spoken by the NPR reporter whose name the corresponding written word contributes to, which may help with grouping.

If you put the written words in the order above—i.e., grouped so as to spell the reporters' names and alphabetized by reporters' last names—and listen to the spoken words, you hear the following (with a double slash representing a second-long pause):

In other words, you hear "To verify age at a nightclub // Archeological excavation // Howitzers, blunderbusses, and derringers // First graf in a news article // Tenth surname in this set // Sumerian city". The answers to these six clues are CARD DIG GUNS LEDE SINGH UR, which is a soundalike for "Cardigans lead singer", which is a clue for NINA PERSSON, the answer to this puzzle.
