Picture Store

The “Picture Store” of the title is actually “Photo Shop.” (Adobe Photoshop just turned 20 last year, and the eye in a square was Photoshop's application icon for many years.)

The solution is hidden in the two images’ histograms, or frequency distributions (“frequently distributed”), accessed via the Levels (“every floor and every story”) command.

Checking Levels for the left image gives this unusual histogram:

And similarly the right image yields:

Rotating the histograms and putting them together in the same way you would to reassemble the puzzle’s broken eye icon to form a whole gives:
