M Puzzle: Cover Story

Filling them into the blanks gives the message: SOUNDS OF WILBUR'S KIN which is a reference to Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. Wilbur is a pig, so the answer is OINKS.
Archivist's note: This puzzle had also had a trained answer, as described in the training page. The flavor text mentions "tackle", so we apply the answer from Football, CAESAR SHIFT FOUR AND REVERSE, to get the new answer WORMS.
