Aha! You Too Can Be Outgoing Phone Operator

v1.0 Jofish 15/1/03

Being Aha Outgoing Phone Operator is a very important and potentially difficult job. It is your responsibility to make sure that teams get from the location contained in their delivery document to Morpheus.

  1. When the Aha Operator hands you the form, it should have a location with phone number circled and an expected arrival time. Wait until that time and then call the number every thirty seconds or so. Make sure you call from a campus phone. You will probably be able to skip steps 2 and 3 on this document, but make sure you check on the Aha form.
  2. If they are going to A3: Phone x3-7833 and say "What's the passphrase?" When they say "Be Noisy", say, "You must get away fast. Avoid any agents you see. Go immediately to the Kresge auditorium building. Enter the building and turn left. When you are there, wait inside, on the dormitory side. We will contact you there. Hurry."
    1. Write the expected arrival time down on the A-Ha Form and continue now with step 3.
  3. If they are going to A2, Phone A2 (x3-1246)and say "What's the passphrase?" When they say "Be Noisy", say, "You must be moved. Agents are in your vicinity again. Go and wait by the Fleet Bank in W20, on the ground floor. Hurry." (Room A1)
    1. Write the expected arrival time down on the A-Ha Form and continue now with step 4.
  4. If they are going to A1 (x3-5887, W20-1xx, the British phone box) and say "What's the passphrase?" When they say "Be Noisy", say, "You must meet with Morpheus now. Go to room 3-434. Hurry" (Morpheus-A-Room)
    1. Write the expected arrival time down on the form. Give the form back to the Aha Coordinator.
  5. If a team goes to one of these locations and does not answer the phone after an extended period of time (say over eight minutes) then get one of us, dressed in Matrix leather-and-sunglasses, and have them verbally tell the team to move to the next location. When the team is gone, that person should call you back and between you, you can troubleshoot the problem. This shouldn't be necessary, but it's good to plan just in case.
