Konstantinos Bimpikis (kostasb "at" mit.edu)

Advisors: Asuman Ozdaglar, Daron Acemoglu
Graduation: June 2010

Description: My general research interests lie in understanding the effects of strategic behavior among competing firms and individuals in various application domains. Most of my current research efforts are focused on studying the role of communication among individuals embedded in a social network, as a means to spread information and influence the undertaking of subsequent actions, such as purchase decision. On a technical level, my research uses tools from game theory, optimization and applied probability.

I am interested in an academic position where I can pursue further my research agenda and teach MBA and PhD level classes.

Xuan Doan (vanxuan "at" mit.edu)

Advisor: Dimitris Bertsimas
Graduation: February 2010

Description: My general research interests are optimization under uncertainty and mathematical modeling. I am looking for an academic position where I can do research on tractable mathematical models which are applicable to real-world applications and teach classes in the areas of my expertise.

Douglas Fearing (dfearing "at" mit.edu)

Advisor: Cynthia Barnhart
Graduation: June 2010

Description: My research interests include applications of optimization, statistics, and learning to transportation and sports analytics. My primary focus is on the analysis of air traffic congestion as it relates to the interactions between the FAA, airlines, and passengers. I am searching for an academic position in a business school or engineering department that will value my contributions as an applied researcher. I am excited to teach optimization, statistics, and demand modeling at any and all levels.

Dan Iancu (daniancu "at" mit.edu)

Advisors: Pablo Parrilo, Dimitris Bertsimas
Graduation: June 2010

Description: The main focus of my research is providing new tools for understanding and computing decisions in complex operational settings. I am interested in both methodological aspects (general dynamic optimization under uncertainty, with an emphasis on robust and adaptive models, connections with risk and utility theory, statistics and machine learning), as well as applications: inventory and supply chain management, single and multi-product dynamic pricing, and portfolio optimization. I am looking for an academic position in which I can pursue and enhance my research agenda, as well as teach undergraduate, doctoral or MBA classes on the methodology and applications of management science.

Rajiv Menjoge (menjoge "at" mit.edu)

Advisor: Roy Welsch
Graduation: June 2010

Description:My general research interests are in applied statistics and data mining. I am looking for an industry position where I can apply quantitative methods to real life problems.

Theophane Weber (theo_w "at" mit.edu)

Advisors: David Gamarnik, John Tsitsiklis
Graduation: Frebruary 2010

Description: My research interests are in applied probability and optimization, with a current focus on statistical inference and decentralized optimization in large-scale networks. I am also interested in approximate dynamic programming, machine learning and probabilistic combinatorial optimization.

Finally, I have carried out applied and interdisciplinary research in the domain of energy, supply chain, and biostatistics/neuroscience. I am looking for an academic position where I can conduct research in the above areas, and teach related courses to undergrads, PhD students and MBAs.

ORC Postdoctoral Associates on the Job Market

Farhad Ghassemi (farhad "at" mit.edu)

Faculty Host: Retsef Levi

Description: My general research interests are in decision analysis, dynamic optimization, approximate dynamic programming and simulation modeling. Recently, I have been applying these techniques to address problems in health care management. I am looking for an academic or non-academic position where I can apply, teach and further my research interests.

Vineet Goyal (goyalv "at" mit.edu)

Faculty Host: Dimitris Bertsimas

Description: My research interests lie in the field of dynamic optimization and decision making under uncertainty with applications in Electricity markets and Inventory management. I am also interested in teaching classes in the broad area of Operations Research and Operations Management at the Ph.D., Masters and undergraduate level. I am interested in an academic position where I can actively pursue my research and teaching interests and contribute to the field and the department.
