River Falls and college gymnastics in general...

As many of you know, the administration at U of Wisconsin - River Falls decided to discontinue their gymnastics program at the end of last season. An Office of Civil Rights investigation was launched in an effort to bring the program back but the OCR sided with the University and the program will not be brought back. This is not only devastating news for the River Falls program, but for all of the Wisconsin schools and the entire NCGA. We are already in a precarious position with only 15 Division III schools sponsoring gymnastics. We could really use the support from everyone that is willing to come out and watch the meets and show support for all of our programs. It is unrealistic to think that we may be able to add some programs given the tough economic times, but we will continue to fight through the Future Of Gymnastics organization (http://www.futureofgymnastics.org) to keep gymnastics alive in the colleges. Bookmark the site and check back often for updates on how you can help.

This year's nationals at Eau Claire promise to be a phenomenal event and it would be great to see as many of our Midwest region alumnae as possible out there. We are also busy planning the 20th Anniversary Reunion of the NCGA which will take place at MIT next year during the 2004 NCGA Championships from April 1st to April 4th.

Until next time... Get out and watch these meets, the gymnastics is great and the meets are a lot of fun!

Kind regards,

Eduardo
