Barış Nakiboğlu

I am a post doctoral researcher at University of California Berkeley (UCB) working with Anant Sahai. I am also a research affiliate at The Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS) working with Sanjoy K. Mitter.

I have completed my gradaute studies at Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I worked with Lizhong Zheng during my doctoral studies, with Robert G. Gallager and Moe Z. Win during my masters. I did my undergraduate work at Middle East Technical University (METU); and gained Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and in Physics.

Research Interest

Focus of my research is Information Theory and Communications. In particular I have done research on Variable-length codes, error-and-erasure decoding, unequal error protection and feedback encoding schemes. Currently my main interest is in characterizing and analyzing of operational performance criterion's motivated by contemporary systems/applications. At a less ambitious level i am also interested in large deviations, network science and machine learning.
