Terms and Definitions

Atheism:
Negative or Weak	Absence of belief in the existence of gods; skepticism or disbelief in the existence of gods.
Positive or Strong	Positive assertion that particular gods do not exist.
Anti-Theist	Belief or participation in active opposition to theism or theists.

Agnosticism:
Empirical	Belief that the evidence for or against the existence of gods is inconclusive; the burden of proof rests on those who make positive claims in either direction.
Strict	Belief that we cannot know for sure whether or not a god exists.

Humanism:
Humanist	One who abides by the Humanist philosophy which stresses the inherent dignity and worth of each person, and asserts that every individual the capacity for self-actualization without the use of supernaturalism; includes many atheists agnostics.
humanist	One who is concerned with the interests and welfare of human beings.

Theism:
Negative or Weak	Belief in the existence of one or more gods.
Positive or Strong	Positive assertion that (a) particular god(s) exist(s).
