MITAAH Constitution
(MIT Atheists, Agnostics, and Humanists)


Article I: Purpose

1.1 The purpose of the MIT Atheists, Agnostics, and Humanists (MITAAH) is:


Article II: Membership

2.1 Any member of the MIT community is eligible to become a member of this organization.
2.2 Members of the surrounding community may visit and participate in all general meetings and
      activities.
2.3 The membership of this organization will at all times contain at least five (5) MIT students and
      be more than half MIT students.
2.4 This organization will not discriminate based on any characteristic listed in MIT's Non-
      Discrimination Statement.
2.5 Any person who has attended at least two (2) meetings is considered a member of this
      organization.


Article III: Officers

3.1 This organization shall have the following four (4) officers: 3.2 Elections:
          3.2.1 Elections of officers shall occur during the first general meeting of the spring term.
          3.2.2 All MIT student members of this organization who have attended at least three
                   general meetings during the term are eligible to run for office.
          3.2.3 Quorum for elections and impeachments of officers is two-thirds of the group
                   membership.
          3.2.4 Any member is elected if he or she wins a majority of the voting members.
          3.2.5 If more than two people are running and no one wins a majority, then the person
                   with the fewest votes is dropped from the ballot and votes are recast.
          3.2.6 The term of office runs from the first April meeting after the election until the last
                   March meeting of the following year.
          3.2.7 Incumbent officers shall run the last meetings (after March) of the spring term in
                   conjunction with the newly elected officers.
3.3 Officers may be removed by a two-thirds vote of the members.
3.4 The officers shall plan a preliminary calendar for the upcoming term before the ASA
      deadlines; this calendar will be subject to member approval at the second general meeting
      in the fall.
