Just as the sextant allowed the old-time mariners to plot their position and course, the IS Five-Year Plan working group will facilitate and keep the process moving to allow Information Systems to plot our strategic position and directions.
A critical ingredient is your participation. To help you make your contribution, we have provided a number of ways for you to reach us.
The first is to participate in the public email exchange. You can send email to sextant@mit.edu using your favorite email client or click here to send a message. Any message sent to sextant is publicly available.
You can read messages sent to sextant in three ways:
The second is to send private email to the Five-Year Plan working group. You can send email to 5yp@mit.edu using your favorite email client or click here to send us a private message. You can also send email to Jeff Pankin < pankin@mit.edu >, Brenda Gillingham < brendakg@mit.edu >, or Mike Barker < mbarker@mit.edu > individually.
Third, you can visit our team room, N42-253, near the integration lab. While we may not be there, there is a graffiti board right outside where you can always put your ideas down.
Fourth, you can send email to our sponsor, Jim Bruce <jdb@mit.edu> using your favorite email client or click here to send a message.
Fifth, you will see us running around over the next few weeks and months. Stop us in the hallway, talk to us over a cup of coffee, let us know what you are thinking. All three of us may look busy, but it is important that we hear from you. So let us know what's on your mind.
We will be interviewing, facilitating discussions, holding workshops and other activities aimed at collecting your input, synthesizing, and encouraging a rich dialogue about the five-year plan. I hope that you'll take advantage of these formal opportunities to make your voice heard. But I also hope that you will use email, graffiti, and hallway conversations to fill in the gaps between the formal opportunities.
